That is thanks to the looming decision Zach LaVine has to make this offseason.
LaVine will be an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career this summer. And while many assumed he would be re-signing with the Bulls just a few months ago, that’s not a certain thing anymore.
In turn with the reports, multiple teams have been brought up as potential destinations. These teams include the Los Angeles Lakers, Portland Trail Blazers, and Atlanta Hawks, just to name a few.
If LaVine does decide to leave, it would leave the Bulls in a sticky situation. They would have enough talent to be respectable, but it would take them another step back from true contention.
However, if they can complete a sign-and-trade, then at least they’d be getting something in return for their two-time All-Star. So that brings us here.
Chicago Bulls are dealing with a lot of drama lately. Despite being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs, they still find themselves all over the news.

But it all started with <a href=https://hoopshabit.com/2022/05/25/nba-trades-zach-lavine-chicago-bulls/"https://heavy.com/sports/chicago-bulls/bulls-news-zach-lavine-free-agency-nba/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">what LaVine said at media day. Essentially, the two-time All-Star guard insinuated that he plans to head into free agency “open-minded,” which isn’t exactly what the city of Chicago wanted to hear.

NBA Trades: 3 Zach LaVine sign-and-trades to save the Chicago Bulls: Atlanta Hawks

Hawks receive: Zach LaVine

Bulls receive: De’Andre Hunter, Kevin Huerter, 2023 2nd-Round Pick

The rumors that the Hawks are pursuing LaVine don’t make a ton of sense. For a team that has been horrendous on the defensive side of the ball, adding another defensively-challenged guard to put alongside Trae Young seems foolish.

But hey, if they’re interested, maybe this deal could get it done.

There’s a chance that the Hawks would rather give up John Collins or even that the Bulls would prefer him, but this deal would probably be better for Chicago.

The Bulls struggled on the defense last year, so adding a young, up-and-coming wing defender like Hunter would be a major plus for them.

In addition, getting Huerter to come off their bench and provide shooting would be huge. The 2023 second is nothing more than an added incentive, but the Bulls could use it in a trade down the line.

As for the Hawks, the duo of Young and LaVine would be one of the best in the league on the offensive end. Defensively, not so much, but it would definitely give Young an elite running mate.

If the Hawks want to complete a sign-and-trade, they would need the Bulls to sign off on the deal. Throwing in two quality players to help Chicago improve their depth would definitely be a way to do that.
