NBA Trades: 3 Duncan Robinson trades for the Miami Heat: Sacramento Kings
Heat receive: Harrison Barnes
Kings receive: Duncan Robinson, 2023 1st-Round Pick (Top-20 Protected)
This trade makes a ton of sense for both teams, as each would be filling a position of need. Miami would get their new starting power forward while the Kings would be adding a wing to the rotation.
Starting off with the Heat, Barnes would be the perfect player to start at the four for them. He fits their mold perfectly as a versatile, two-way forward that can help them on both ends of the court.
Barnes is a solid three-point shooter and has been for the majority of his career. And on the defensive end, he’s big enough to guard larger fours but quick enough to move on the perimeter.
He’s obviously not the defensive beast that PJ Tucker was for the Heat, but he is more of an offensive presence for them to run through. The only downside is that his contract is up after this season.
For the Kings, this deal would give them an elite three-point shooter to play alongside their two stars – De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis – neither of whom is a great three-point shooter.
Though Robinson had somewhat of a down year last season, he could easily have a bounce-back year next season. And if that does happen, the Kings will have gotten some amazing value in return for Barnes.
Miami Heat. They earned the top seed in the conference and made it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals before being eliminated by the Boston Celtics.

However, anybody on the roster would say that the season was a failure, as they did not meet their ultimate goal of a championship. And so far this offseason, things haven’t gone too well.

They <a href=https://hoopshabit.com/2022/07/23/nba-trades-duncan-robinson-miami-heat-2/2/"https://www.nba.com/sixers/news/pj-tucker-signs-with-76ers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lost PJ Tucker in free agency to the Philadelphia 76ers, meaning they now have a major hole at the starting power forward position. That being said, they do have some trade assets to help them replace Tucker.

One asset who could be on the trading block for Miami is Duncan Robinson, who looks immediately replaceable with Max Strus on the roster. In turn, here are three NBA trades involving Robinson for the Heat to consider.

*In an attempt to switch things up, there will be no Kevin Durant or Donovan Mitchell trades in this article, though both are possible.*

NBA Trades: 3 Duncan Robinson trades for the Miami Heat: Utah Jazz

Heat receive: Bojan Bogdanovic

Jazz receive: Duncan Robinson, 2028 2nd-Round Pick

This trade may be a bit boring, but it would definitely fill a need for the Heat. Although, it would be a huge downgrade from Tucker, especially on the defensive end of the court.

Bogdanovic is still a solid scorer, but he leaves a lot to be desired on defense. With how many great defenders the Heat have on their roster, though, they could afford to have one subpar defender in the starting lineup.

For Utah, this trade would see them nab another pick (albeit a second-rounder) and also take a chance on a shooter coming off of a down season.

At best, Robinson could recoup his value, and the Jazz could trade him again next offseason. But worst-case scenario, they trade an expiring contract for a second-round pick.

NBA Trades: 3 Duncan Robinson trades for the Miami Heat: Atlanta Hawks

Heat receive: John Collins

Hawks receive: Duncan Robinson, Gabe Vincent, Haywood Highsmith, 2023 1st-Round Pick, 2028 1st-Round Pick (Top-20 Protected)

This trade would definitely be a shocking one, and while the Heat would absolutely be getting the best player in the deal, it could actually make some sense for both teams.

Miami would be getting a star power forward to pair alongside their already-impressive core. John Collins is an All-Star-caliber four who would fit in seamlessly with his shooting and athletic ability.

Not only would he be able to help them compete for a championship right now, but he would also add to their young core of Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro, setting them up beautifully for the future.

On the flip side, the reason why the Hawks make this deal is a bit weirder, as they are clearly giving up the best player in the trade in Collins. However, they have reportedly been looking to trade Collins for a long time now.

In this deal, they would get back a great three-point shooter in Robinson to pair alongside Trae Young and Dejounte Murray. If he can get back to being a 40% three-point shooter, this is great value for Atlanta.

They would also be getting a top-notch backup point guard in Vincent, a decent prospect in Highsmith, and two firsts. The two picks would help them replace the draft capital they gave up in the deal for Murray.
