For the Heat, the explanation has already been made – they need a power forward. Going after a Tucker replacement in the trade market this summer.
The second team involved in this trade would be the Atlanta Hawks, who have already made a splash this offseason by trading for All-Star guard Dejounte Murray.
After making the Eastern Conference Finals in the 2020-21 season, the Hawks took a massive step back this past year. They reached the playoffs through the Play-In Tournament but were eliminated in the first round in five games.
John Collins has been rumored to be on the trade market for two seasons. And now, once again, the Hawks are supposedly looking at offers for the young forward.
Trading him could help them reshape their roster and continue to improve the team around Trae Young and Murray. Though Collins seems like a solid fit, they should be able to get a solid return for him.
Lastly, the third team involved in this deal would be the Phoenix Suns, who have been involved in some rumors this summer due to the odd situation involving them and big man Deandre Ayton.
It’s looking likely that Ayton could eventually sign an offer sheet with the Indiana Pacers, but in this trade, he would be heading elsewhere to a more playoff-ready team.
Miami Heat</a> were one of the best teams in the league last year, making a run to the Eastern Conference Finals before falling to the Boston Celtics in seven games.</p>
<p>Fast forward to the offseason, and things haven’t changed much for Miami. They’ve re-signed some key players like Victor Oladipo, Dewayne Dedmon, and Caleb Martin, all of whom will play key roles for them next year.</p>

<p>However, the Heat did suffer a crucial loss to their starting lineup. PJ Tucker decided to leave Miami in favor of <a href=https://hoopshabit.com/2022/07/10/nba-trades-john-collins-miami-heat/2/"https://www.nba.com/sixers/news/pj-tucker-signs-with-76ers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">joining the Philadelphia 76ers</a> on a three-year deal worth roughly $30 million.</p>
<p>Tucker played a huge role for the Heat this past season on both ends of the floor, and losing him was a big-time blow. The Heat will now have to scramble to replace him in the starting lineup.</p>
<p>As of now, they don’t really have anybody that is ready to step up and start at the power forward position. They could run Jimmy Butler there, but he’s become comfortable at the small forward.</p>
<p>Miami could run Omer Yurtseven or Dedmon alongside Bam Adebayo in the frontcourt, but that would hurt their versatility on both offense and defense.</p>
<p>Realistically speaking, their answer to the power forward position probably won’t be found internally. They’re going to have to seek outside help to play at that spot.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, since the free-agency pool has dwindled, the Heat will likely be forced to attack the trade market if they want to snag a real replacement for Tucker.</p>

<h2>NBA Trades: 3-team trade would land John Collins on Miami Heat: The trade</h2>
<p>This trade would see the Heat not only replace PJ Tucker in their starting lineup, but they would actually upgrade their team for the long-term, adding John Collins.</p>
<p>Collins isn’t as impressive on the defensive end, but he would give the Heat a pretty big offensive boost. In addition, since Collins is just 24 years old, he would be able to grow with Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro into the future.</p>
<p>Dealing Duncan Robinson wouldn’t be a problem for them, and the first-round picks shouldn’t matter, either. Losing Max Strus would be a big blow, but progression from Caleb Martin and Gabe Vincent should help make up for that.</p>
<p>For the Hawks, this trade would pair Deandre Ayton alongside Trae Young and Dejounte Murray, forming their new Big 3 for the future, and giving Ayton a second chance to thrive.</p>
<p>They would also be adding Strus, who would be a great rotation piece for them with his shooting and energetic play on both ends. Jae Crowder would also be a huge help in adding more forward depth.</p>
<p>Lastly, the Suns would be getting their new starting center in this deal. Clint Capela has proven to be an elite big man when paired with a playmaking point guard, and Chris Paul is definitely that.</p>
<p>Phoenix would also add some extra shooting with Duncan Robinson, some wing depth with Justin Holiday, and two first-round picks since they’d be giving up Ayton.</p>
