NBA Trades: 3 trades for the Philadelphia 76ers with the 23rd pick: Washington Wizards

76ers Get
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Wizards Get
Danny Green
Charles Bassey
#23 Pick

Replacing Danny Green with 3-and-D wing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope would be an obvious upgrade for the Philadelphia 76ers that could be worth sacrificing the 23rd pick in the 2022 NBA Draft for. Caldwell-Pope plays a similar style to Green, but he’s five years younger and much more consistent at scoring the ball and defending at a high level.

The 29-year-old producer shot 39.0 percent from three-point range last season and the 2020 NBA Champion with the Lakers would fit seamlessly into the Sixers’ rotation.

It’s unclear what direction the Washington Wizards will pursue this offseason and it largely depends on the looming future of superstar Bradley Beal, but it would be no surprise to see them part ways with Caldwell-Pope either way.

Moving him would create more playing time for 2021 first-round pick Corey Kispert and acquiring the 23rd pick would give them another young asset that can make an impact on both the present and future outlook. Caldwell-Pope is on an expiring $14.0 million contract anyway.

Green and Charles Bassey’s contracts would be enough to make the salaries work to send Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to Philly. Heading into draft night, a deal between the Philadelphia 76ers and Washington Wizards will be a realistic possibility.

Hield would be an ideal fit alongside Embiid, James Harden, and Tyrese Maxey as an efficient asset that can space the floor and heat up offensively.</p> <p>The <a href=https://hoopshabit.com/2022/06/17/nba-trades-philadelphia-76ers/2/"https://hoopshabit.com/eastern-conference/indiana-pacers/">Indiana Pacers are in the midst of a slim rebuild as they’re reportedly open to offloading veterans on the current roster in exchange for younger talent that fits their long-term timeline. Trading Hield for a first-round pick would certainly interest the Pacers as it would open up more playing time for other investments and return another intriguing prospect to add to its young core.</p> <p>Indiana would also benefit from receiving Shake Milton and Furkan Korkmaz in the deal for salary matching purposes, and they could both have chances to earn a rotation spot. Veteran wing Danny Green’s $10.0 million expiring contract (non-guaranteed) would be included as a salary filler and the Sixers shouldn’t mind parting ways with him since he’s coming off a torn ACL and won’t be healthy until at least next season’s All-Star break.</p> <p>This potential deal would benefit both organizations in terms of their respective directions and team values. A trade centered around Buddy Hield and the 23rd pick should be a realistic scenario for the Philadelphia 76ers and Indiana Pacers on draft night.</p> <div class="next-slide slider"> <a class="next-slide-btn" style="background:#222423" data-track="shortcode" data-track-action="next-slide-shortcode" href=https://hoopshabit.com/2022/06/17/nba-trades-philadelphia-76ers/2/"#"> <span class="title">Next:</span> Trade #2 </a> </div><!—pageview_candidate—><hr id="pagebreak"><div id="attachment_446027" class="wp-caption aligncenter"> <img class="wp-image-446027 size-full" src=https://hoopshabit.com/2022/06/17/nba-trades-philadelphia-76ers/2/"https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/fetch/c_fill,g_auto,f_auto,h_2133,w_3200/http%3A%2F%2Fhoopshabit.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2Fgetty-images%2F2018%2F08%2F1367220510.jpeg" alt="NBA Trades, Philadelphia 76ers" width="3200" height="2133" srcset="https://hoopshabit.com/wp-content/uploads/getty-images/2018/08/1367220510.jpeg 3200w, https://hoopshabit.com/wp-content/uploads/getty-images/2018/08/1367220510-768x512.jpeg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 3200px) 100vw, 3200px"><div class="fs-center-img"> <p class="wp-caption-text" style="width:3200px;">WASHINGTON, DC – JANUARY 17: Tyrese Maxey #0 of the Philadelphia 76ers dribbles by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope #1 of the Washington Wizards during a NBA basketball game at the Capital One Arena on January 17, 2022 in Washington, DC, NBA Trades: 3 trades for the Philadelphia 76ers with the 23rd pick.
