After the NBA All-Star Game concluded, Stephen Curry was the one dominating headlines. He scored 50 points, won MVP, and nailed an improbable 16 three-pointers.

LeBron James also made the news for his game-winning shot, and players like Joel Embiid and Giannis Antetokounmpo got their flowers as well.

But the true, underappreciated star of the All-Star game was none of those guys. It was a guy in his who barely earned a spot in the game in the first place – San Antonio Spurs point guard Dejounte Murray.

Dejounte Murray ended up playing just under 27 minutes in the contest, and he racked up a fairly impressive statline for a first-time All-Star selection.

The 25-year-old put up 17 points, five rebounds, and five assists on the night while shooting 7-of-11 from the field and 1-of-3 from behind the three-point line.

All stats aside, the real reason Murray was the star of the show is because of the way he played the game – he looked like he’d been in the game a thousand times before.

As they say nowadays, Murray new the assignment. He was the perfect mix of nonchalant, energetic, and electric all at the same time. It was super fun to watch.

He played just enough defense to show off his skills on that side of the floor, but not so much that it seemed like he was trying too hard in a game that doesn’t really matter.

The same can be said about Murray’s performance on the offensive side of the floor – he didn’t do too much, but he definitely didn’t do too little as to not get noticed.

In fact, Murray came in clutch with what might have been the play of the game. He set himself up for a nasty, off-the-glass alley-oop, and it wasn’t even his only one of the game.

Earlier on in the night, he was the beneficiary of a gorgeous alley-oop pass from Charlotte Hornets superstar LaMelo Ball, slamming it home for the monster jam.

He may be the most lowkey All-Star, but he sure does know how to put on a show. While the bigger-name players may have gotten all the credit, Murray made sure to leave his mark all over the game.
