NBA Trades: 3-team trade would land Dillon Brooks on Sacramento Kings: The teams
Before getting into the full details of the trade, let’s take a look at what three teams would be involved in this deal, and obviously, we should start with the Sacramento Kings.
As the Kings continue to improve their roster around De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis, adding more scoring and wing depth around them could be very useful.
In addition, one area of the game where Sacramento has struggled has been on the defensive side of the floor. Adding some more perimeter defense to their roster should be prioritized.
The second team involved in this trad would be the Memphis Grizzlies, who are coming off of an incredible season where they finished second in the Western Conference.
For a team with an already-solid roster, they don’t need to change too much, but swapping out players who will be due for an extension for players that could fit their team better may be smart.
Lastly, the final team being thrown around in this potential trade would be the LA Clippers. They’ll be looking to contend for a championship last year, so retooling their roster should be at the top of their to-do list.
Like the Grizzlies, they don’t need to do much in order to compete, but trading in players for others that could fit their roster a bit better may be a smart thing to inquire about.
Sacramento Kings have been one of the most disappointing teams of this century. They currently hold the record for the longest playoff drought across all of North American professional sports.

Sacramento has failed to qualify for the postseason in 16-straight seasons, but as the offseason progresses, it’s clear that they are hell-bent on ending that embarrassing drought.

Last year, the Kings <a href=https://hoopshabit.com/2022/07/21/nba-trades-sacramento-kings-dillon-brooks/2/"https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/33244860/indiana-pacers-sacramento-kings-work-six-player-trade-includes-domantas-sabonis-tyrese-haliburton-sources-say" target="_blank" rel="noopener">made a splash at the trade deadline. In a move that sent shockwaves across the entire NBA landscape, they dealt young guard Tyrese Haliburton to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for Domantas Sabonis.

Many people around the league were shocked that the Kings decided to trade Haliburton, but considering Sabonis is the better player right now, it’s clear that they are trying to make something happen right now.

The combination of Sabonis and De’Aaron Fox creates one of the more intriguing young duos in the NBA, and so far this summer, they’ve made the necessary moves to improve even more.

Already this offseason, the Kings have added guys like Malik Monk and Kevin Huerter, and they also drafted Keegan Murray with the fourth pick in the draft.

However, as they look to put together a playoff-caliber team alongside Fox and Sabonis, they could still attempt to make more deals to add win-now talent to the roster.

So, in this trade, they would be adding a dynamic wing talent who can help them compete on both ends of the court, as they’d be making a move for Dillon Brooks.

NBA Trades: 3-team trade would land Dillon Brooks on Sacramento Kings: The trade

Kings receive: Dillon Brooks, Marcus Morris

Grizzlies receive: Harrison Barnes, Richaun Holmes, 2028 2nd-Round Pick (via SAC), 2028 2nd-Round Pick (via LAC)

Clippers receive: Steven Adams, Killian Tillie, 2026 1st-Round Pick, 2023 2nd-Round Pick

Starting off with the Kings, this deal would see them land two key pieces to their rotation – a dynamic scorer and defensive-minded wing and a sparkplug scorer.

Brooks would slot in as the defensive-minded wing who could also act as a scorer for the Kings. He’s heading into the last year of his deal, though, so the Kings would have to worry about extending him.

As for Morris, he would be a culture-setter for the Kings. His energy and scoring efforts would provide the Kings with an amazing rotational piece to utilize in their lineup.

Next up, the Grizzlies’ side of this deal may seem a bit odd, considering Brooks played a fairly crucial role for them last year. However, instead of trying to extend him, trading him for solid value could be smart.

Barnes would give them a 3&D forward to plug into their lineup. Meanwhile, Holmes would replace Adams in their rotation, who is also under the contract for longer, giving them more long-term flexibility.

Lastly, the Clippers would get into this trade in an attempt to fill in a hole on their roster. Morris has been a great player for them, but with Kawhi Leonard returning and Robert Covington and Nicolas Batum already on the roster, they may consider him expendable.

And since they lost Isaiah Hartenstein in free agency, adding Adams to the rotation would give them a quality center to share minutes with Ivica Zubac.
