NBA Trades: 3 Memphis Grizzlies trades that would shock the NBA: Indiana Pacers
Grizzlies receive: Myles Turner
Pacers receive: Brandon Clarke, Danny Green, 2024 1st-Round Pick (Lottery Protected)
The Pacers have been reportedly shopping Turner for a long while now, and the Grizzlies could benefit from what he brings to the floor, as it would create a terrifying defensive frontcourt.
Turner and Jaren Jackson Jr. would be a lethal combo, as both are great defenders who can also space the floor on offense. It would give Memphis a ton of versatility on both ends of the court.
Losing Clarke would be a big hit, as he played well for them in the postseason, but he’s entering the final year of his contract. If the Grizzlies wanted to make a splash, trading for Turner to form a huge frontcourt could be a smart move.
For the Pacers, this would help them finally enter a full-on rebuild. Clarke would fit in nicely alongside Tyrese Haliburton, and this trade would also open up more minutes for Isaiah Jackson.
Green would be included solely for salary-matching purposes, as he’s expected to miss the entirety of last season. Indiana could buy him out or simply keep him on the roster but away from the team as they did with Ricky Rubio last season.
Finally, the Pacers would receive a protected first-round pick, just like they got in the Brogdon trade. They’re entering a rebuild, and this trade makes sense for that direction.
Memphis Grizzlies had an amazing season this past year. They finished as the second seed in the Western Conference and made the second round of the playoffs, before losing to the eventual champions.

Ja Morant emerged as a top-15 player in the NBA, Jaren Jackson Jr. received serious consideration for Defensive Player of the Year, and Taylor Jenkins proved that he’s one of the best coaches in the league.

But they are in a very interesting position now. Memphis could very well run it back, and that could end up being the smartest decision. But they could also make a splash.

The Grizzlies have the cap space and the contracts to make a blockbuster trade happen, so let’s ponder that idea. Here are three wild NBA trades to potentially help the Grizzlies.

NBA Trades: 3 Memphis Grizzlies trades that would shock the NBA: Phoenix Suns

Grizzlies receive: Deandre Ayton

Suns receive: Dillon Brooks, Steven Adams, 2023 1st-Round Pick (Top-10 Protected), 2025 1st-Round Pick (Lottery Protected)

This trade would certainly be a massive shock to the league. It’s looking more and more like Ayton <a href=https://hoopshabit.com/2022/07/09/nba-trades-memphis-grizzlies/2/"https://www.si.com/nba/2022/07/08/kevin-durant-trade-request-holding-up-potential-pacers-suns-deandre-ayton-deal-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">will sign an offer sheet with the Pacers, but in this trade, he’d land with the Grizzlies.

Ayton and Jackson Jr. would be a nice combo up front, with Ayton handling most of the traditional center duties while Jackson Jr. roams free on the defensive end.

The two of them, alongside Ja Morant, would create one of the most promising Big 3s in the league, and in a new situation, Ayton may finally be able to shine even more.

For the Suns, this deal would land them a new center, a solid two-way wing to help out on both ends, and two first-round picks in exchange for their young big man.

NBA Trades: 3 Memphis Grizzlies trades that would shock the NBA: Atlanta Hawks

Grizzlies receive: John Collins

Hawks receive: Dillon Brooks, Brandon Clarke, Danny Green, 2024 1st-Round Pick (Lottery Protected), 2026 1st-Round Pick (Lottery Protected)

This trade would see the Grizzlies add another young star to the mix in Collins, and he would give them a bunch of options up front alongside guys like Jaren Jackson Jr. and Steven Adams.

Collins and the Hawks seem to be heading for a split, but people have been saying that for two years now. However, with how long the rumors have dredged on, it seems unlikely that he’s on the team by the time next season begins.

The forward’s offensive game would make him a beautiful fit next to Jackson Jr., who is one of the best defenders in the league. Collins would provide Ja Morant with nice floor spacing and an elite lob threat.

On the flip side, the Hawks would be getting a gritty wing who could help them on both sides of the ball. Brooks would help lead their defensive unit while also giving them a nice scoring punch.

Clarke would be an interesting fit, but he could help fill in the gaps alongside Clint Capela and Onyeka Okongwu in the frontcourt. Those three would form a nice big man rotation.

But the most important pieces in this deal for Atlanta would be the firsts. They traded a ton of picks in the deal for Dejounte Murray, so recouping some in this trade would be a huge win.
