NBA Trades: 3 trades for the Portland Trail Blazers with the 7th pick: Houston Rockets
Trail Blazers receive: Christian Wood, Eric Gordon
Rockets receive: #7 Pick, #36 Pick, Eric Bledsoe
This trade is fairly simple, but it would help both teams involved commit to their current direction. The Blazers would get a new starting big man, while the Houston Rockets would get more pieces to help with their rebuild.
Recent reports have hinted that Christian Wood and the Rockets have discussed a contract extension, but if Houston got the opportunity to land a top-10 pick in the draft, they might have to jump at it.
However, conflicting rumors have emerged via HoopsHype that “rival executives who’ve spoken with HoopsHype expect the Rockets to gauge the trade market on Wood’s value this summer.”
This deal would see them net a top-10 pick and a pick just outside of the first round. They would have to take on Eric Bledsoe’s contract, but he’ll be off the books after one season.
Meanwhile, the Blazers would be getting their second star to pair alongside Lillard. Wood would provide them with a new look, allowing Lillard to fully control the backcourt.
Eric Gordon would also be an underrated pickup in this deal, as he could be one of the league’s best sixth men in Portland. He’s an efficient scorer who the Blazers could run their offense through off the bench.

<p>While <a href=https://hoopshabit.com/2022/06/12/nba-trades-portland-trail-blazers/2/"https://hoopshabit.com/2022/06/04/nba-trades-sacramento-kings-4th-pick/">we’ve already detailed potential Kings trades</a> already, it’s time to look at deals the Blazers could make in order to help improve their supporting cast around Damian Lillard.</p>
<p>Portland seems reluctant to hit the reset button, meaning their seventh-overall pick could end up in another team’s hands on draft night. They would likely rather have a veteran piece who would help them contend.</p>
<p>But that begs the question – what trades are out there for the Blazers to land a win-now veteran in exchange for the seventh pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.</p>

<p>Out of all the potential trades the Blazers could make, this one seems to be the most obvious. The <a href=https://hoopshabit.com/2022/06/12/nba-trades-portland-trail-blazers/2/"https://hoopshabit.com/eastern-conference/detroit-pistons/">Detroit Pistons are in the middle of a rebuild, and netting the seventh pick would be huge for them.</p>
<p>It would allow them to put two more lottery-level talents alongside Cade Cunningham and their current core, as they also have the fifth pick in this year’s draft.</p>
<p>For Portland, adding Jerami Grant would give them a defensive-minded secondary star who could take some of the pressure off of Lillard while also playing a very different role.</p>
<p>He’s not the most efficient scorer, but with a point guard as talented as Lillard running the show, Grant’s scoring opportunities would be a lot easier to come by than they were during his time in Detroit.</p>

<h2>NBA Trades: 3 trades for the Portland Trail Blazers with the 7th pick: Indiana Pacers</h2>
<p><strong>Trail Blazers receive:</strong> Malcolm Brogdon, Myles Turner, Buddy Hield</p>
<p><strong>Pacers receive:</strong> #7 Pick, Nassir Little, Eric Bledsoe, Greg Brown III, 2024 1st-Round Pick, 2025 1st-Round Pick (via MIL), 2026 1st-Round Pick</p>
<p>This deal would be an absolute blockbuster that would shake up the league. Portland would be re-shaping their roster in hopes of contention, while the <a href=https://hoopshabit.com/2022/06/12/nba-trades-portland-trail-blazers/2/"https://hoopshabit.com/eastern-conference/indiana-pacers/">Indiana Pacers would fully commit to their rebuild.</p>
<p>Indiana would get a second top-10 pick in this year’s draft while simultaneously shedding a ton of future cap space. They’d also get a few future firsts for their troubles.</p>
<p>Nassir Little would be a nice piece to add, too, as he could develop into a quality 3&D player. A similar statement can be made for Greg Brown III, although he’s more of a raw prospect at this point.</p>
<p>The Pacers would also have to eat Eric Bledsoe’s expiring contract, but considering he’ll be off the books after next season, that’s not too tall of an order.</p>
<p>Portland would be netting three win-now pieces that would compliment Damian Lillard beautifully, as they each provide a very necessary skill that caters to him.</p>
<p>Malcolm Brogdon would be the perfect starting backcourt partner to pair with Lillard. He’s an above-average defender who can shoot the ball well and provide some secondary playmaking, too.</p>
<p>Buddy Hield doesn’t give much on the defensive end, but he’s a great shooter to have on the roster, as he would give them some much-needed floor-spacing.</p>
<p>Lastly, Myles Turner is an ideal center for the Blazers, as he’s an elite rim protector and could also space the floor on offense. This would also allow them to either let Jusuf Nurkic walk or explore sign-and-trade options.</p>
