NBA Draft: The best 3 draft picks of the 2022 NBA Draft: Jaden Ivey

Cade Cunningham’s performances after the All-Star break last season showed the Detroit Pistons a glimpse of his promising future. Detroit’s former first-overall selection averaged 17.4 points during his first season, finishing first among other rookies.

Talented players like Marvin Bagley III and Cunningham make the Pistons one star away from competing in the Eastern Conference. Using the fifth-overall pick wisely would determine their fate for the following years.

Detroit succeeded in making the right decision with its position on the board. Purdue’s explosive guard, Jaden Ivey, was selected to join the squad. Ivey’s explosive playmaking ability makes him the perfect fit for the Pistons’ backcourt.

His 17.3 points per game last season with Purdue demonstrated his ability to attack the rim. Pairing with a dynamic scorer like Cunningham will bring success to the Pistons in the future.

Detroit also acquired rights to Jalen Duren, a powerful center from the University of Memphis. The decision to trade Jerami Grant came with rights to the No.13 pick in the draft. Duren will be used to help the Pistons find a balanced rotation at the power forward and center positions. If Detroit has a productive offseason, their young talent will thrive this season.
