A majority of the teams in the NBA are focused on the postseason, but some have already turned their eyes to the offseason and the 2022 NBA Draft. The pool of prospects received a boost this week when Wisconsin star Johnny Davis declared for the upcoming draft.

The Badgers guard was one of the breakout players of the college basketball season. The sophomore was Big Ten Player of the Year and an All-American, averaging 19.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.

Wisconsin star guard Johnny Davis has declared for the 2022 NBA Draft and is forgoing his remaining college eligibility.

Davis is a very intriguing prospect, one who will definitely go in the first round and will likely find himself getting picked in the lottery as well. Success in the NBA could depend on where Davis begins his career, though.

Considering Davis’ draft stock, it’s not likely any of the teams competing for a championship this spring will be getting his services, barring a trade or anything of the like. Instead, a team desperate for victories is going to expect the guard to produce almost immediately.

Davis proved during the season that he was capable of carrying the scoring load for the Badgers, but he also brings other skills to the game, including above-average rebounding and a noticeable toughness, often fighting through contact to finish plays.

There’s a long way to go before the 2022 NBA Draft, with plenty of player movement and team movement left to be had prior to June 23. For the moment, though, these are three potential fits for Davis.
