2022 NBA Free Agency: 3 PFs that need to be signed – Blake Griffin
After serving as a key rotational piece for the Brooklyn Nets over the last two seasons, former top overall pick Blake Griffin is still a free agent. This past season was a strange one for Griffin, as he was in and out of Brooklyn’s rotation nightly, having scarcely gotten off the bench in the playoffs. Despite a rather tough close to the season, Griffin could certainly help a team in the proper role.
While he may not be the high-flying, athletic monster that he once was due to injuries, Griffin has found success in a new role over the past few seasons. At 33 years old, Griffin can provide some solid scoring and passing while playing passable defense off the bench.
He proved to be a massive sparkplug for the Nets at times last season, and he could undoubtedly bring that energy to a team if he were to be signed. In somewhere between 10-15 minutes per game, Griffin could be a quality rotational piece for a handful of teams, especially contenders looking for experienced players.
Right now, Griffin is not looking at anything more than the minimum if he were to be signed, in all likelihood. There were whispers that Griffin was looking to sign with one of the two Los Angeles teams, as Jake Fischer and Marc Stein recently reported on a podcast.
The Los Angeles Lakers or LA Clippers would both be intriguing destinations for Griffin, as he would be a household veteran to bring aboard as they look to contend next season. On a minimum deal, the forward could help fortify either roster even further, and those teams should give it some thought.
