The Atlanta Hawks surprised everyone during the 2020-21 NBA season as they made it to the Eastern Conference Finals and took the Milwaukee Bucks to six games.
This looks like just the beginning for a youthful Hawks team that has key pieces like Trae Young, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Kevin Huerter, and a newly re-signed John Collins. In addition to handing Collins a massive five-year extension, the Hawks kept Lou Williams and Solomon Hill around as they will run it back with practically the same team next season.
It was a rather quiet offseason for Atlanta, which is likely how they wanted it after a successful 2020-21 season. The Hawks are likely done making any bigger moves in free agency at this point as things have started slowing down.
As fans anxiously wait to see if Atlanta can deliver an encore next season, here are a few former Hawks that are still unsigned and could make their way onto a roster before the 2021-22 season begins, along with some suggestions for suitors to pass the time.
Atlanta Hawks: Mike Scott remains unsigned in 2021 NBA Free Agency
Mike Scott spent the first five seasons of his NBA career with the Hawks from 2012-17, making a name for himself as a solid role player. He was a quality bench piece for those Atlanta teams that made some deep runs in the postseason, doing a little bit of everything for the team.
Scott has played the last two and a half seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers, where he continued to be a rotational piece off the bench. Due to his toughness and outside shooting, Scott played a key role for the 76ers up until this season, where his role decreased significantly, and he was booted out of the playoff rotation. He will not be returning to the team in all likelihood due to that minimized role and the team’s other moves.
The 33-year-old will not elevate any team’s status in the ranks of title contention, but Scott could be a low-risk addition for teams looking to fill out their roster on a cheap deal. Perhaps the veteran could help bring some toughness to any locker room while playing some meaningful minutes. One team that should take a look is the Chicago Bulls, who are looking to make a genuine run in the Eastern Conference next season after a slew of moves in the offseason. Adding Scott would give them a ready-made contributor to help them in their quest to snap their playoff drought.

<h2>Atlanta Hawks: Ersan Ilyasova remains unsigned in 2021 NBA Free Agency</h2>
<p>Some might forget that <a href=https://hoopshabit.com/2021/09/06/atlanta-hawks-unsigned-nba-free-agency/"https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/i/ilyaser01.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener" ref="nofollow">Ersan Ilyasova</a> briefly played with the Hawks from 2017-18, but he was a solid role player during his time with the franchise. That practically sums up Ilyasova’s career as he has been on a large handful of teams throughout his lengthy career, serving as a quality veteran to add some shooting and scoring.</p>
<p>Ilyasova most recently spent last season with the Utah Jazz, but he struggled to carve out a role for himself. After appearing in just 17 games, the veteran remains unsigned in free agency, and although he might not be the flashiest name, he could still help several teams. Ilyasova has shot 36.7 percent from 3-point range for his career, having provided some quality floor spacing. Teams looking to shore up their shooting could take a flyer on the forward as a low-risk but high-reward move. At 34-years-old, the forward still potentially has some fuel left in the tank.</p>
<p>One team that would be interesting for Ilyasova is the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Wolves made moves this offseason that signal they want to leap back into the playoff picture next year, most notably by trading for Patrick Beverley and Taurean Prince. While Prince will help alleviate their power forward predicament to some extent, Ilyasova could bring in another household name for good measure. While he will not help fix their defensive issues, he would provide some perimeter shooting for a team that needed it last season and depth at a position of need.</p>

<h2>Atlanta Hawks: Jeff Teague remains unsigned in 2021 NBA Free Agency</h2>
<p><a href=https://hoopshabit.com/2021/09/06/atlanta-hawks-unsigned-nba-free-agency/"https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/t/teaguje01.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener" ref="nofollow">Jeff Teague’s</a> best days in the NBA came as a member of the Hawks. The guard spent the first seven seasons of his career in Atlanta and even earned his sole All-Star nomination with the team during the 2014-15 season. He would return to the Hawks for 25 games during the 2019-20 season but found himself on the move once again in the offseason.</p>
<p>Teague had a strange year in 2020-21, starting the year off with the Boston Celtics, where he never found his footing. He would be traded and waived at the deadline, which paved the way for him to sign with the Bucks. His role would never be clear-cut, but reuniting with former coach Mike Budenholzer, who coached him with the Hawks, was a good move. Teague would give the team inconsistent play at the point guard position but ultimately helped the team in their quest to become world champions.</p>
<p>The reigning champion remains unsigned, and understandably so as he was inconsistent with the Bucks. However, for teams that are still in the hunt for another capable ball-handler off the bench, Teague could be the player they are searching for. The 12-year NBA veteran would provide scoring, shooting, playmaking, and experience to any team that signs him, making him tailor-made for a contending team to make a move.</p>
<p>One team that fits the bill is the Golden State Warriors, who are looking to put the finishing touches on their roster before next season. The team has some uncertainty regarding their backup point guard position, and Teague would help clear that up and give the team some depth in the backcourt behind Stephen Curry and a returning Klay Thompson.</p>
