NBA Trades: 3 under-the-radar destinations for Donovan Mitchell

1 of 3 Next »

Since the Utah Jazz drafted Donovan Mitchell in 2017, he has altered the franchise from a lottery team to one of the best regular-season teams in the NBA. In just five seasons, Mitchell has built quite the name for himself. Not only has he been selected to the All-Star team three times, but he has averaged over 20 points per game since entering the league.

After Rudy Gobert was recently traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves, Mitchell’s name has constantly been mentioned in trade packages. One team that is actively pushing for Mitchell to be traded is the New York Knicks. As Mitchell grew up in New York, he could return to his roots if a trade were to occur.

Outside of the New York Knicks, there have been multiple teams that have been engaged in trade scenarios for Mitchell. These teams have completed their rebuilding and are looking to trade future picks, as well as assets, to acquire an All-Star talent who can contribute to competing for a championship.

NBA Trades #3: Donovan Mitchell to Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors may have one of the best trade packages to offer the Utah Jazz for Mitchell but the Raptors will strive to keep their core together. That said, almost any player outside of All-Stars Fred Vanvleet, Pascal Siakam, and Rookie of the Year Scottie Barnes should be made available at the right price.

The Utah Jazz may ask for a package that consists of 3&D specialist OG Anunoby, sharpshooter Gary Trent Jr, and big man Khem Birch, along with several draft picks. This trade scenario would be ideal for both teams.

The Utah Jazz would get two established young talents in OG Anunoby and Gary Trent Jr., a tremendous pick-and-role center in Khem Birch, and a future draft pick to help rebuild for the years ahead. On the other hand, the Toronto Raptors would receive one of the best shooting guards in the NBA in hopes of making a return to the NBA finals.
