The New York Knicks may not be winning much, but that doesn’t mean its all bad. Here are five takeaways from the 2018-19 season thus far.

The New York Knicks are not off to a great start this season in terms of wins and losses. New York has yet to win back-to-back games this season, with a record of 4-8. However, this season was about more than wins and losses in the Big Apple.

There is new leadership in position and a plan looks to actually be in place. President Steve Mills, general manager Scott Perry and head coach David Fizdale have provided a breath of fresh air to the organization. It is a much-needed change as the Knicks have been the laughingstock of the league for the better part of two decades.

A championship, let alone a playoff appearance, was unlikely for the team this season. The Knicks are in the gathering talent stage of their rebuild, but for the first time in a long time, there is cautious optimism in the fanbase.

There are a bunch of intriguing young players on the roster. This year’s draft class looks to have provided three building blocks in Kevin Knox, Mitchell Robinson and Allonzo Trier, joining Kristaps Porzingis and Frank Ntilikina. There are multiple former lottery picks on the roster in Enes Kanter, Trey Burke, Noah Vonleh, Emmanuel Mudiay and Mario Hezonja.

While the victories haven’t come, at least not yet, there is a process in place that has people excited for the first time in a long time. Everything hasn’t gone according to plan, but there have been a lot of positives in the early going among the negatives.

Here are five takeaways for the Knicks from their first 12 games of the season.
