Here’s a look at five early surprises from the first quarter of the 2018-19 NBA season.

There were a myriad of notable storylines coming into the 2018-19 NBA campaign. For starters, could Dwyane Wade go out on a high note during his last and final season with the Miami Heat?

Would the Minnesota Timberwolves build upon the success they had last season on the heels of ending a 13-year playoff drought? Could the duo of Russell Westbrook and Paul George be enough to help the Oklahoma City Thunder take the next step in a loaded Western Conference? Would the Houston Rockets remain competitive despite losing two key defenders?

Of course, being that the Golden State Warriors are back-to-back champions and have won three of the last four titles overall, the biggest question coming into this season was whether any of the other 29 NBA teams could knock off the Dubs in a playoff series.

Now that we are about 20 games through the season, a few scenarios have unfolded that few could have predicted. So without further delay, we will take a look at five of the biggest surprises from the first quarter of the 2018-19 season.
