The NBA Rookie of the Year race is heating up, with teams riding some unexpected results in 2018-19 as the season finds its rhythm.

The rookies are beginning to find their way in the 2018-19 NBA season. One player, in particular, has been a positive part of the Memphis Grizzlies‘ recent surge. The Grizz have five won games in a row and counting and are currently first in the Western Conference standings. Jaren Jackson Jr. shouldn’t be surprised to find himself back in the top five.

Jackson isn’t the only rookie making an impact on a playoff team, either. Indiana Pacers guard Aaron Holiday is showing why he was so coveted by the front office. Over his last three games, he’s averaging 14.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest and has scored in double figures in all three appearances off the bench.

At the top of the rankings, Luka Doncic and Trae Young continue to battle it out for the top spot. Doncic put together a masterful performance with the Dallas Mavericks against the Golden State Warriors in a huge 112-109 victory last Saturday night.

Young didn’t get a victory with the Atlanta Hawks, but he dished out 17 assists to go along with 25 points in a tough 127-119 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers this past Monday to push his case for Rookie of the Year.

The cases are in this week for the Week 6 power rankings. Here’s a look at this week’s top five.
