The Chicago Bulls have found a cornerstone player in second-year pro Coby White.

Famous philosopher Deepak Chopra once said, “We have to really educate ourselves about who we are, what our real identity is.” This is especially true for young players in the NBA. If a defined role for his skill set isn’t clear, a player may be shipped to a new team via trade. Often times, young players simply need a change of scenery for their real talents to shine. The lucky ones, however, are the guys whose talents are a great fit with the team that drafted them. In just his 2nd season, Coby White has put the Windy City on notice; the starting point guard for the foreseeable future has arrived.

In a league where the majority of teams run an “outside-in” offense, great guard play is of increased importance. Shooting guard Zach LaVine is playing like an All-Star but to be competitive, Chicago needs the pieces around him to produce at a high level. Enter Coby White. The 2nd year player out of North Carolina showed flashes of brilliance as a rookie and his productivity has only increased this year.

Head coach Billy Donovan has a history of empowering point guards. Russell Westbrook and Chris Paul both flourished for him while playing for the OKC Thunder. Bulls fans are hoping that White continues that tradition. These are the ways in which he’s making that a reality thus far.
