There were a ton of big names swapping jerseys this offseason. No longer will we need to play out hypothetical situations in our heads as the season is finally here.
Like always, it’s time to take a good hard look at who’s in the driver’s seat to win it all. At least from a betting standpoint. The first day of the season gave us some unexpected results but no one should be unnerved about how things turned out for their favorite team. At least not yet.
NBA off-season always feels like an incredibly long one. Fans sit back for an entire summer, turn on the television and watch highlights of past seasons, and get excited about what’s set to take place in the new year. What gets their blood jumping even more, is watching all of the trades and signings that take place.

As we took a peek into every team’s <a href=https://hoopshabit.com/2021/10/20/nba-odds-every-teams-chance-win-2021-22-nba-title/"https://to.fwdr.co/?af_ad_type=text%22 target="_blank" rel="noopener">NBA odds, we couldn’t help but notice that several teams are pegged entirely too low. Meaning, this could be a chance for bettors to break out their checkbooks. Before you put your money where your mouth is, take a look at the odds of your favorite team and dive into our analysis of what’s a good move and what isn’t.

Odds of every NBA team winning 2021-22 title: Houston Rockets +50000

Nothing is impossible in the NBA. We’ve seen some of the unlikeliest teams have better than expected seasons and go on to have deep playoff runs. But while crazy things can happen, the likelihood of the Houston Rockets sniffing an NBA title this year is unfathomable. Heck, even nabbing a playoff spot this year is a bit laughable and improbable.

The Rockets are loaded with young talent. Kevin Porter Jr. is a rockstar and judging by the <a href=https://hoopshabit.com/2021/10/20/nba-odds-every-teams-chance-win-2021-22-nba-title/"https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/31362570/houston-rockets-kevin-porter-jr-fifth-youngest-score-50-points" target="_blank" rel="noopener">50 burger he dropped last season, he could turn out to be a franchise pillar. Second overall pick this past draft in Jalen Green has already shown glimpses of greatness, case in point would be the incoming rookie averaging 20.3 points on shooting splits of 51.4/52.6/92.9 during Summer League play. Sure it’s only Summer League but it has to mean something. Also, Christian Wood is oozing with All-Star potential. The ultra-talented big man averaged 21 points a game to go along with more than nine boards last season. That said, this team doesn’t stand a chance at competing with anyone in the league at this point.

The talent, while undeniable, is still incredibly young. The Rockets main core have spent all of 34 seconds in the NBA and have no idea how to win games. This year is going to be an ugly one for Rockets fans. They’ll witness a lot of one-sided beatdowns for the home team. A championship isn’t in their near future. Instead, the Rockets will have a leg up against the competition in terms of who will finish the year with the worst record.

Minnesota Timberwolves are such a talented, yet enigmatic group. On paper, they have one of the best rosters in the entire NBA. D’Angelo Russell was an All-Star not that long ago and is capable of averaging over 20 points a game. Karl-Anthony Towns has made two All-Star appearances during his brief career and while he doesn’t get the love he deserves at times, you can pencil him in for at least 22 points and 10 boards a night.

Former number one overall pick Anthony Edwards is a beast. He may have finished second in Rookie of the Year voting last season but he closed his first year strong by averaging 27 points per game in the final month of the season.

Taurean Prince is a solid wing scorer and defender and Patrick Beverly is always going to bring that dog. There’s no reason why the Wolves shouldn’t have at least been in the play-in tournament last year.

This squad just has a ton of talent and they should be way better this season. That said, don’t be foolish and put your money on them to win it all this year but keep an eye on them throughout.

Odds of every NBA team winning the 2021-22 title: Cleveland Cavaliers +50000

There’s little to no question that the Cleveland Cavaliers backcourt has the best nickname in the entire NBA, “Sexland.”

Darius Garland and Collin Sexton were the unquestioned leaders of this bottom of the barrel team. Sexton dropped 24.3 points a night, while Garland was good for 17.4 points and 6.1 assists. They might be a bit on the undersized side of things, but they can fill it up and carve up opposing defenses with the best of them.

Jarrett Allen, their new $100 million starting center, and Evan Mobley, are also highly thought of. But, ever since LeBron James left town, the Cavaliers have never been back in the title hunt. Outside of their starting guards, the rest of their team doesn’t match up with anyone in terms of talent. Sure they still have former multiple-time All-Star Kevin Love, but he’s only an All-Star in name at this point in his career. Simply put, he has nothing left in the tank.

It’s going to be a long road back for the Cavaliers before they can be viewed as top of the line in the conference. Needless to say, unless you simply want to lose your money, don’t touch this team.

Odds of every NBA team winning 2021-22 title: Washington Wizards +30000

We all feel bad for Bradley Beal.

For the past two seasons, the Washington Wizards shooting guard has averaged over 30 points a game. Despite the gaudy numbers, the Wizards haven’t come close to grabbing a playoff spot.

The problem for the Wizards is a simple one. Outside of Beal, they typically have fielded a team with little to no talent. This year, while everyone is still down on them, we believe they’ll bounce back fairly nicely. Spencer Dinwiddie is going to have the ball in his hands a lot and put up terrific numbers. Kyle Kuzma won’t be on a short leech in Washington and Montrezl Harrell can get back to contending for Sixth Man of the Year in what should be a much larger role for him.

The Wizards are unfortunately up against it in the Eastern Conference. The Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks are at the top of the food chain and the Wizards have no chance of competing with them. Unlike most, however, we believe they will make a postseason appearance this year. They simply have far better talent this season than in years past. But, if you believe they have a chance to compete for a title, you’re fooling yourself.

Odds of every NBA team winning 2021-22 title: Sacramento Kings +30000

There’s a reason why the Sacramento Kings are towards the bottom of this list in terms of NBA title odds. It’s because they simply aren’t very good and they’ve been like that for a while.

That’s not to say that the Kings don’t have several intriguing pieces because they do such as De’Aaron Fox, who could challenge for an All-Star selection this year and shooting guard Buddy Hield. The problem for the Kings is widespread. From a lack of overall talent to an underachieving coaching staff, to an inept front office, the Kings have a ton of work to do.

Also, to complicate things even further, is that the Kings are in the ever jam-packed Western Conference. The Kings have failed to make the playoffs in the past 15 seasons. During that time frame, they haven’t even fielded a halfway decent team, as they’ve produced records under .500 for over a decade and a half.

So you’re expecting the Kings to go from failing to make the eighth seed to making a championship run? Don’t fool yourself.

Odds of every NBA team winning 2021-22 title: San Antonio Spurs +30000

You probably won’t believe us but there was once a time where the San Antonio Spurs were at the top of the charts in terms of championship odds every year. The Spurs seemingly always had a great player at its core. Whether it was Tim Duncan, David Robinson, Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker, Kawhi Leonard, etc – someone was always there to placate the hopes and dreams of the fans. Now? They have no one.

Even in recent years, when the franchise was trudging out the likes of DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge, they weren’t making deep playoff runs but they weren’t kept out of the playoff picture either.

The cupboard is completely bare for the Spurs. With all due respect to Derrick White and Dejounte Murray, but the combination of that pairing isn’t going to win many games in this league, let alone compete for a title.

Head coach Gregg Popovich has made miracles happen before. But even with possibly the most brilliant mind in NBA history sauntering up and down the sidelines, he isn’t going to lead this group to a title this year, next, or for the foreseeable future – unless they make a number of moves for some big name players.

Odds of every NBA team winning 2021-22 title: Detroit Pistons +30000

Fans of the Detroit Pistons were extremely happy when they landed the number one overall pick in this past draft. With it, they nabbed Cade Cunningham. So far, he appears to be the real deal. In this year’s past Summer League, Cunningham dropped 18.7 points and grabbed 5.7 boards a night.

The Pistons aren’t going to win a title, so it makes no sense for bettors to even look in their direction but they do have a few good pieces to build around. Cunningham is the obvious choice. He’s their smooth new point guard of the future but outside of him, the Pistons can depend on Jerami Grant. In his first full season as the “man”, he dropped a career-high 22.3 points per game. There’s no reason to believe that he won’t continue to step up to the plate and give the rest of the NBA fits.

The Pistons start and stop with those two but in terms of championship aspirations, that won’t happen for at least another five or more years. For now, bettors should avoid Detroit but pay attention to what they continue to do in the draft. They have a number of selections coming up and if everything goes according to plan, could turn into real players sooner, rather than later.

Odds of every NBA team winning 2021-22 title: Orlando Magic +30000

We tried, we really did. There just isn’t much to like about the Orlando Magic.

Last season, the franchise didn’t have much to work with but they still had a few notable names such as Nikola Vucevic and Aaron Gordon. But, in an effort, to rebuild their entire team, the Magic decided that it would be in their best interest to get rid of essentially every one of importance.

That youth movement will now continue as the Magic will put the ball in the hands of first-year player Jalen Suggs and newly acquired Wendell Carter Jr. All season long, fans of Orlando will have to suffer through painful nights as they get whipped upon for the duration of the year.

It’ll be a miracle if this team doesn’t finish with the worst record in the entire NBA. What they’ll ultimately hope for, is that Suggs is the real deal and wins Rookie of the Year and that Carter Jr., as well as several others, take huge strides in their development.
