With the New York Knicks sitting at a lackluster 23-25, it seems like some changes may be on the horizon. According to multiple reports, the Knicks have made all of their players available for trade.
While it is unlikely that players like RJ Barrett are traded at the deadline, there is a very good chance the Knicks finally make some moves to try and save this season.
Most of the Knicks roster this season has been rather disappointing, with players like Alec Burks, Evan Fournier, and Kemba Walker being very inconsistent. Those guys have hurt the team more times than they have helped.
With that being said, here are three players the Knicks should look to get rid of in some NBA trades.
NBA Trades: 3 players the Knicks should trade away – Evan Fournier
Whether it be his abysmal defense, inconsistent scoring, or lack of an ability to do much outside of said scoring, Evan Fournier has been a disappointment this season.
In 46 games played, Evan Fournier has averaged 13.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists while shooting 41.8 percent from the field and 38.9 percent from three.
While these numbers may not look to be that terrible, when you consider his big contract (4 years, $73M) and the fact that he has been unplayable at multiple points during the season, you can begin to see why he is such a disappointment.
Throughout the season, Fournier has played in 18 games where he failed to score more than nine points and 24 games in where he failed to shoot above 40 percent from the field.
While Fournier has had many bright moments, such as his 41-point performance against the Celtics, outside of those couple of games, he has been massively disappointing.
It is unlikely that Evan Fournier has much value right now, but that is fine. The reason you do this trade is to clear up more minutes for young players like Immanuel Quickly, Quentin Grimes, and Cam Reddish.
When the Knicks signed Evan Fournier during the 2021 offseason, I was very excited. It seemed that he would provide the shot-creating the Knicks desperately needed. However, due to his poor play, I’m ready for the Knicks to move on.

<h2>NBA Trades: 3 players the Knicks should trade away – Alec Burks</h2>
<p>Similar to Even Fournier, if the New York Knicks are to trade Alec Burks, it would be to make room for the younger players on the roster.</p>
<p>After a very solid season with the team last year, the Knicks decided to re-sign Alec Burks to a 3-year, $30M contract extension. So far, it has not really worked out.</p>
<p>In 47 games played, Alec Burks has averaged 11.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists while shooting 38.2 percent from the field and 39.4 percent from three. While there is not a drastic difference in Alec Burks’ numbers from last year to this year, it is his play as of late that makes a trade seem likely.</p>
<p>In Alec Burks’ last 13 games played, he has averaged 9.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.2 assists while shooting an abysmal 31.1 percent from the field and 30.8 percent from three.</p>
<p>These numbers are unacceptable for any player, let alone a player like Burks, who has been playing the role of point guard when Kemba Walker has been out.</p>
<p>Similar to Fournier, it is likely that Alec Burks will not have much trade value. However, when you look at the young players on the roster who deserve more minutes, it makes sense for the Knicks to move on from the 30-year-old guard.</p>

<p>Julius Randle’s fall off this season has been a sad one, but there are often times where he brings negativity upon himself. Look at when he <a href=https://hoopshabit.com/2022/01/28/nba-trades-players-knicks-trade/"https://nba.nbcsports.com/2022/01/07/julius-randle-gives-knicks-fans-thumbs-down-and-message-shut-the-f-up/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">gave fans at MSG a thumbs-down gesture</a>, or when he nearly hit his teammate Evan Fournier while storming off the court angrily, or his newfound lack of effort on both sides of the floor.</p>
<p>While Julius Randle likely does not have a ton of value, if the Knicks can flip Randle for a point guard, it would do wonders for the teams. Kemba Walker has been extremely inconsistent all season and Derrick Rose has been out with an ankle injury.</p>
<p>Another reason the Knicks <a href=https://hoopshabit.com/2022/01/28/nba-trades-players-knicks-trade/"https://hoopshabit.com/2022/01/25/nba-trades-julius-randle-knicks/">should trade Randle</a> is to free up minutes for Obi Toppin, who has outplayed Randle in several games while playing fewer minutes. A good example of this is in the Knicks’ most recent game against the Cavaliers.</p>
<p>Randle put up 18 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and four turnovers while shooting 6-of-17 from the field and 2-of-7 from three in 32 minutes played.</p>
<p>In this same game, Obi Toppin played about half the minutes of Randle (15) and put up 13 points, six rebounds, and two turnovers while shooting 5-of-9 from the field and an impressive 3-of-4 from three. The fact that Obi Toppin played half the minutes of Randle and put up similar numbers is embarrassing.</p>
<p>While I am not entirely sold on Obi Toppin’s potential just yet, with the way Randle is playing this season, I would rather trade him for a team need and start Obi Toppin.</p>
<p>To put it simply, Julius Randle has been on the Knicks for three years and has been bad in two out of those three years now. If his poor play continues, the Knicks must trade him before his massive contract (4 years, $117M) becomes untradeable.</p>
