Why the Chicago Bulls will bounce back from recent skid: Stiff competition

World-famous fashion designer Gianni Versace once said, “it is ideal to have intense competition; it pushes you to become greater.” During their recent streak of disappointing outcomes, the Bulls can attest to the fact that stiff competition certainly pushes you to the limits of your abilities.

Out of the six losses the Bulls have experienced in the last ten games, three of them came at the hands of legitimate title contenders. The Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, and Milwaukee Bucks are three teams with a very real chance to make it to the NBA Finals.

Although the Bulls were on the wrong side of the final score in those contests, having a mid-season test against the league’s elite can only serve to make the team stronger in the long run.

The team’s current two-game winning streak against the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Toronto Raptors is a step in the right direction. However, neither one of those teams has serious aspirations this year; those are the games the Bulls are “supposed” to win.

If Chicago is going to make noise in the playoffs, that means overcoming the star power and experience that teams like Brooklyn, Milwaukee, and Miami possess.

While losing a hard-fought game in January may not feel good, the lessons learned from those contests are priceless and will pay dividends down the road.
