In spite of their recent underwhelming performances, the Chicago Bulls will be fine.

Not long ago, the Bulls were the talk of the basketball universe. After DeMar DeRozan hit back-to-back game-winning buzzer-beaters, it seemed like this was a fairytale season.

The team was in first place in the Eastern Conference, and when they weren’t winning in dominant fashion, they were winning in dramatic finishes that even Hollywood couldn’t have scripted. Then the wheels fell off.

The Chicago Bulls have six out of their last ten games. They will find the chemistry that made them a good team and return to their winning ways.

Due to a variety of circumstances, the team has lost six out of their last ten games. That includes four consecutive losses between January 12th and January 17th.

Now, they find themselves in second place behind the Miami Heat. Although reality has set in for fans in the Windy City, it is still far too soon to hit the panic button. The Bulls are still a very good team with a lot of veteran leadership – they will right the ship and be okay.

An 82-game season in a marathon, not a sprint. Winning every game at all costs comes at the expense of the team’s preparation for the playoffs. This often leads to underwhelming or disappointing results when the season is on the line.

The 2016 Golden State Warriors are the best example of this theory in action. However, Head Coach Billy Donovan has been through the trenches and understands what it takes to get his guys ready for the big stage. Let’s take a closer look at why their recent stretch of bad play is an aberration and not indicative of the Bulls’ true value as a team.
