Robert Covington is the perfect NBA trade target for the Milwaukee Bucks

The Milwaukee Bucks decided to not bring P.J. Tucker back after last season; an interesting decision by the front office. After joining the team at the NBA trade deadline, he helped them win the organization’s first championship in 50 years.

He was a major reason for the success that the Bucks had a season ago, as he brought a toughness that Milwaukee did not have prior to him being there.

It was questionable why they decided not to bring him back. Not only did they not retain him, but he went to arguably their biggest rival, the Miami Heat.

The Milwaukee Bucks need to find an NBA trade target to help replace PJ Tucker

The Milwaukee Bucks have played decent this season, but they’ve certainly not played as well as they had hoped for. They still sit in second place of the Eastern Conference but were certainly looking to be better than their 18-11 record.

Most of their early-season struggles can definitely be contributed to the fact that they just have not been healthy. Another thing is that they clearly need somebody who can bring in that type of grit and intensity that P.J. Tucker brought them because there are nights where they just don’t look like they’re playing with the fire that they need.

Who’s the answer to this issue? Robert Covington.

Robert Covington might be even better than Tucker. Although he doesn’t necessarily bring the same type of fire that Tucker does, he still brings a bulldog mentality and defends at a high level, which is something that the Bucks love and could use.

He could be the guy who is thrown at Kevin Durant in the playoffs, and that’s certainly something that Milwaukee is going to need. They could allow Jrue Holiday, Khris Middleton, and Giannis Antetokounmpo to guard him, but they want to make sure that those guys are at full strength on the offensive side of the floor.

Covington also provides more on the offensive side of the ball than Tucker does, and it would make perfect sense that the Milwaukee Bucks would go after him at the trade deadline.

Portland is clearly going to move some of their players, and Milwaukee should be the first ones on the phone in regard to Robert Covington.
