Alex Caruso will win the 2022 NBA Sixth Man of The Year Award as a member of the Chicago Bulls.

Since it was first designated in 1983, the Sixth Man of The Year Award has gone to a group of men whose trajectory as players is as diverse as the NBA itself. Bobby Jones of the Philadelphia 76ers and Kevin McHale of the Boston Celtics were both high first-round draft picks who went on to be elected to the Hall of Fame. Still, there are other players who were not highly sought after upon completion of their college careers; winning Sixth Man of the Year honors would be their biggest individual highlight as a professional.

In 1999, Darrell Armstrong of the Orlando Magic fit that description to a tee. Going undrafted out of Fayetteville State in 1991, Armstrong bounced around overseas for several years before finally being signed as a free agent by Orlando in 1995. His high energy, relentless style of play earned him a spot in the rotation and led him to win Sixth Man of The Year in 1999. Armstrong would never be a star, but his career stands as a testament to the power of hard work and persistence.

Alex Caruso will play a bigger role for the Chicago Bulls than he played for the Los Angeles Lakers. He will win the 2022 NBA Sixth Man of The Year Award.

Like Armstrong, Alex Caruso went undrafted after playing four years of college basketball at Texas A&M. After a season with the Oklahoma City’s G-League affiliate, he was signed by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2017. During his four years with the team, he became a fan favorite and an NBA Champion. This past offseason, he signed a contract with the Chicago Bulls. Let’s take a closer look at why Alex Caruso is primed to walk away with the Sixth Man of The Year Award next season.
