2022 NBA Free Agency: 3 power forwards that need to be signed

2022 NBA Free Agency has been ongoing for several weeks now, and teams are looking to put the finishing touches on their rosters ahead of next season.
As front offices look through the list of remaining available free agents, there are some interesting names at the power forward position that would make great additions for teams looking for depth in the frontcourt. In particular, there are three forwards on the market currently that stand out and could be had right now. With that being said, let us look at these three free agent power forwards.
2022 NBA Free Agency: 3 PFs that need to be signed – Markieff Morris
Last season was one to forget for Markieff Morris. The power forward appeared in just 17 games due to a neck injury, which kept him out of the Miami Heat’s lineup for most of the year.
That injury has now clouded his value on the market, and although he is seemingly back to full health, no teams have come calling to bring him aboard for next season. However, that could change soon, as Morris may still have plenty left to give on the basketball court.
When he has been healthy, Morris has always provided serviceable scoring, shooting, defense, and toughness when he is on the floor. Though Morris might not be the same player that he once was now that he is nearing 33 years old, he can still provide all of those things to a degree.
In around 15-18 minutes per game, Morris could undoubtedly be a passable contributor off the bench for a team that is currently looking to shore up their power forward depth this offseason.
Financially, Morris is likely looking at the minimum right now, as he will have to showcase that he can still play at a high level after a frustrating year last season. Signing Morris to a minimum deal would be a low-risk move for any contender.
According to Bleacher Report’s Jason Dumas, Morris has a preference to play for the Philadelphia 76ers next season, as he is a native to the area. He notes that the 76ers are weighing their options with signing Morris, but it would be a reasonable move for them to do so.
Morris could serve as the backup power forward to PJ Tucker, bringing in even more toughness and battle-tested experience. Only time will tell if anything materializes between Morris and the 76ers, but it would make sense for the two sides to unite for the 2022-23 season.
