One of the biggest storylines this season has been something that has nothing to do with the game of basketball. Ironically enough, it involves a player who has yet to even step on the court this year.

The New Orleans Pelicans had a terrible start to the season, but have since turned things around and are looking to make a push toward the play-in and beyond.

However, they’ve managed to do all of this without their star player, Zion Williamson. But according to recent rumors, there’s some progress being made on that front.

And while this doesn’t mean he’ll be on the court tomorrow, the improvements will allow him to gradually inch closer to basketball activity.

Williamson has yet to appear in a game this year, as it was announced during his preseason press conference that he was dealing with a fracture in his foot.

The first-overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft has appeared in only 85 games so far through his three-year NBA career – 24 in his rookie season and 61 last season.

Despite his absence, this isn’t the first time Williamson has made news this season, though. Just a couple of weeks ago, CJ McCollum dropped a bomb at All-Star weekend.

He stated that, despite being traded to the Pelicans nearly two weeks ago at that point, he and Williamson had not yet spoken. This led to the media, including former teammate JJ Redick, calling Williamson out for being a detached teammate.

Since then, reports have surfaced that the two have talked and Williamson has begun to post pictures on his social media of his teammates. So in theory, things have smoothed over.

The 21-year-old remains out indefinitely, and as of now, it seems unlikely that he’ll step foot on the court this season. But regardless, it’s nice to know that he’s making progress.
