NBA Trades: 3-team trade would land Ben Simmons on Atlanta Hawks: Teams

First and foremost, the Hawks would be interested for the reasons stated on the previous slide. They are looking to put themselves in a position to win a title, and sometimes that involves taking risks.

Trading for a player like Simmons is obviously a risk, but if that risk pays off, then the Hawks would have an All-NBA-caliber forward on their roster who has Defensive Player of the Year potential.

As for the Nets, they are in a very weird place as a franchise. It’s looking like they could end up having to trade Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving this summer, so trading Simmons as well makes some sense.

They could choose to begin their pseudo-rebuild around Simmons, but tearing everything down and starting from scratch with a whole new squad could also be very beneficial.

Lastly, the Indiana Pacers would get involved in this trade as a third team, swapping some assets and recouping some draft capital. They’re about to enter a full-on rebuild, so that would be beneficial for them.

They just traded point guard Malcolm Brogdon for essentially nothing but a first-round pick, so getting any sort of value for their veteran pieces seems to be their game plan as they begin to reset around Tyrese Haliburton.

The Simmons addition has already been explained. He could play power forward for them, focusing in on the defensive end, helping the Hawks become a dominant defensive team.</p> <p>Turner would play a similar role, but would simultaneously be a great frontcourt partner for Simmons. He would protect the rim and help the Hawks’ defense, but he’d also space the floor for them on offense.</p> <p>As for Mills, he would simply be a solid backup point guard for the Hawks. After losing Delon Wright to the Washington Wizards in free agency, they need to fill the void.</p> <p>For the Nets, this would be a solid haul for Simmons, Mills, and two seconds. It would help them stay competitive once Durant and Irving leave while also adding a potential young star.</p> <p>Collins could bloom into an All-Star if given the chance, or at the very least be someone to give the Nets 20 points and 10 rebounds every night. Meanwhile, Bogdanovic could take on a big-time scoring role and Theis could backup Claxton.</p> <p>Lastly, the Pacers would be adding a first-round pick and two seconds in exchange for Turner and Theis. This would add to their current draft capital while also giving Isaiah Jackson and Jalen Smith some breathing room to develop at the center position.</p> <div class="fs-shortcode" data-type="StoryLink" data-theme="dark" data-text="3 Myles Turner trades for the Pacers to consider" data-url="https://hoopshabit.com/2022/07/03/nba-trades-myles-turner-indiana-pacers/" data-call-to-action="Next"> <div class="story-link-next"> <a class="story-link-next-btn" style="background:#222423" data-track="shortcode" data-track-action="story-link-next-shortcode" href=https://hoopshabit.com/2022/07/05/nba-trades-ben-simmons-atlanta-hawks/2/"https://hoopshabit.com/2022/07/03/nba-trades-myles-turner-indiana-pacers/"> <span class="call_to_action">Next:</span> 3 Myles Turner trades for the Pacers to consider </a> </div> </div><!—pageview_candidate—>">
