NBA Trades: 3 John Collins trades to help the Atlanta Hawks: Phoenix Suns
Hawks receive: Deandre Ayton, Jae Crowder
Suns receive: John Collins, Clint Capela
This trade would be an absolute blockbuster. The Suns would add some great depth, while the Hawks would get a big man that fits their current timeline.
Similar to Collins and the Hawks, the relationship between Ayton and the Suns is far past the point of repair. He’s going to be moved this summer, and the Hawks should be calling Phoenix about him.
Ayton is just coming off of his current contract and has a ton of room to grow. Plus, with Young and Murray at the helms, Ayton will still be able to feast, as he’d still have great playmakers to set him up.
The Hawks would also get Jae Crowder in this deal, who could replace Collins as the starting power forward for a season (or come off the bench and be a solid 3&D player).
On the flip side, this might be one of the best trade packages the Suns could get in return for Ayton. They would get a replacement starting center, as well as an upgrade at the power forward.
In fact, Phoenix might have to throw in extra pieces in this deal to get the Hawks to bite. But it would be worth it if they could get Capela in return on top of Collins.
Atlanta Hawks</a> just made a massive splash. They kicked off the offseason by trading for Dejounte Murray, sending out Danilo Gallinari, three first-round picks, and one pick swap.</p>
<p>Now, Trae Young and Murray are set to be one of the most lethal backcourts in the NBA. However, it seems as though they aren’t done making moves quite yet.</p>
<p>Atlanta is supposedly still looking to trade John Collins this summer. His name has been thrown around in trade rumors for months, and it seems as though the relationship between the two parties has eroded beyond repair.</p>
<p>So, with Murray in place and the Hawks set up for success next season, what three NBA trades could they complete to get solid value back in exchange for Collins?</p>
<h2>NBA Trades: 3 John Collins trades to help the Atlanta Hawks: Boston Celtics</h2>
<p><strong>Hawks receive:</strong> Derrick White, Grant Williams, 2023 1st-Round Pick (Top-20 Protected), 2025 1st-Round Pick (Lottery Protected)</p>
<p><strong>Celtics receive:</strong> John Collins</p>
<p>Boston has been linked to Collins as a potential suitor for a while now, and <a href=https://hoopshabit.com/2022/06/30/nba-trades-john-collins-atlanta-hawks/2/"https://www.actionnetwork.com/nba/nba-free-agency-and-trade-intel-sizing-up-where-jalen-brunson-rudy-gobert-and-others-will-land" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Matt Moore of Action Network</a> just confirmed that rumor once again on June 29.</p>
<p>This deal would see them add Collins to be their tertiary scorer behind Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. He’d start at the power forward and Tatum would slide down to the three.</p>
<p>For the Hawks, this trade would mainly be about recouping draft capital after trading for Murray. This trade would see them add firsts in 2023 and 2025.</p>
<p>In addition, they would get Derrick White to be a backup guard off the bench and help with their defense. As for Grant Williams, he could start for them or be a premier backup four.</p>

<h2>NBA Trades: 3 John Collins trades to help the Atlanta Hawks: Sacramento Kings</h2>
<p><strong>Hawks receive:</strong> Harrison Barnes, 2024 1st-Round Pick</p>
<p><strong>Kings receive:</strong> John Collins</p>
<p>This deal would accomplish a few different things for the Hawks. They would replace Collins at power forward, free up cap space for next summer, and recoup a first-round pick.</p>
<p>Having Barnes fill Collins’ spot in the starting lineup would be a great replacement. In fact, some could argue that Barnes would be a better fit.</p>
<p>He’s more versatile on the defensive end, meaning he would be able to guard the perimeter at a higher level than Collins. Plus, his three-point shooting is more reliable.</p>
<p>The Hawks would also get a first-round pick in return for Collins, which would help them start to stock up on firsts after they just traded all of theirs away for Murray.</p>
<p>Lastly, they would free up some cap space for next offseason. Barnes is on the last year of his deal, while Collins is under contract through the 2025-26 season.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the Kings would be adding a third core piece to their young core of De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis. He could get in the way of Keegan Murray’s development, but Collins is the far better player right now.</p>
<p>Adding Collins to the roster would help the Kings compete for the playoffs for years to come, and as has been mentioned time and time again, that is their end goal.</p>
