2. Tyler Herro needs to get healthy and play with more consistency.

Toward the final stretch of the Eastern Conference Finals, shooting guard Tyler Herro was a non-factor. Yes, injuries played a role and it’s easy to speculate about how different things would be different if Herro played—but this is not the time and place for that. It’s more about what Herro can do to better his game, help the team and enhance his impact on the Miami Heat.

The reigning Sixth Man of the Year has provided a strong return on the Heat’s investment and is one of the better shooters in the league. His talent tends to go unnoticed thanks to Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. That may have to change, at least in terms of getting his due. That would involve Herro possibly playing more of a starter role than a sixth-man role.

That’s not to say Herro can’t be effective if he’s not coming off the bench. However, given how the league just got put on notice, it would be wise for Miami to incorporate Herro into a starting role and only use him as a sixth man in crucial situations. After all, the Heat will need as much from their starters as possible this year if they want to get through the East.
